What is Family Therapy?
Understanding Family Therapy: A Space for Joint Growth.
Family therapy is a therapeutic approach that views the family as an interconnected system. Rather than focusing on a single individual, we work with all or part of the family members to address dynamics, communication patterns, and conflicts that affect the family unit as a whole. It is a safe space where every voice is heard and collaborative solutions are sought for the well-being of all.
Systemic Approach:
Understand how one member’s interactions affect others.
Effective Communication:
Tools for expressing yourself and actively listening.
Conflict Resolution:
Strategies for addressing disagreements constructively
Strengthening Bonds:
Reconnection and deepening relationships.
Neutral Space:
An unbiased environment to explore challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Below, we’ll answer some of the most common questions our clients often have before beginning a therapeutic process. Our goal is to provide you with clarity and peace of mind.
Who should attend the sessions?
Therapy is an inclusive and beneficial space for a wide range of individuals and situations. It can be helpful for people experiencing emotional difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, stress, or grief. It is also recommended for those looking to improve their interpersonal relationships, develop coping skills, increase self-awareness, or simply explore personal growth.
Sessions can be individual, couples, or family, depending on the specific needs and goals to be achieved. In the first consultation, we will evaluate together who would benefit most from participating.
How long does a session last?
The standard length of a therapy session is approximately 50 to 60 minutes. This time has proven to be the most effective in allowing for deep and meaningful dialogue without causing burnout.
However, on some occasions, and depending on the type of intervention or the needs of the moment, the duration may be slightly adjusted, always with prior agreement between the therapist and the client.
How many sessions will we need?
The number of sessions required is a frequently asked question, and one of the most variable. There is no fixed number, since the therapeutic process is highly individualized. It depends on various factors such as the nature of the challenges to be addressed, the depth of the problems, the established objectives, the client’s motivation, and the frequency of the sessions.
Some people find relief and progress in just a few sessions, while others prefer longer sessions to work on entrenched patterns or for continued personal growth. We conduct periodic progress reviews to discuss and adjust the therapeutic plan.
Is the therapy confidential?
Confidentiality is a fundamental pillar of the therapeutic relationship and is protected by strict codes of professional ethics and privacy laws. Everything shared in the sessions is strictly confidential.
There are very few exceptions to this rule, which are legally stipulated and generally refer to situations where there is an imminent risk to the life of the client or third parties (for example, if there is a plan to harm oneself or others, or in cases of child abuse).
These exceptions will be explained to you in detail at the beginning of the process. Our commitment is to create a safe and trusting space where you can express yourself freely without fear of judgment or disclosure.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and establish the foundation for our collaboration. There is no need to prepare anything in advance.
In this first meeting, you will have the opportunity to share what brings you to therapy, your concerns, your expectations, and your goals.
For our part, we’ll explain how we work, our methodology, and answer any questions you may have about the process. It is a space to assess whether there is a good therapeutic connection, which is crucial to the success of therapy.
Don’t expect immediate solutions; the main goal is to begin building mutual understanding and an initial action plan.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes, mindful of our clients’ needs and conveniences, we offer virtual sessions through secure and encrypted platforms.
This modality allows access to therapy from anywhere, eliminating geographical and travel barriers and offering great scheduling flexibility.
The effectiveness of virtual therapy has been widely supported by research, and we ensure the same level of professionalism, confidentiality, and quality as in-person sessions.
For virtual sessions, you’ll need a stable internet connection and a private space where you can speak freely.
How much does the therapy cost?
The cost of therapy sessions may vary depending on the type of session (individual, couples, family), the length of the session, and the therapist’s experience.
We understand that investing in mental health is important, and we strive to offer competitive and transparent rates.
We will provide you with detailed information about our fees during your initial consultation.
While we don’t always work directly with insurance companies, we can provide you with detailed receipts or invoices that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, if covered by your policy. We firmly believe that therapy is a valuable investment in your well-being and quality of life.
